Only one Master CIK per keyset can be created for each SECTEL 1500
(the Master CIK is unique to its particular terminal). Usually, the Commu¬
nications Security (COMSEC) custodian uses and controls aMaster CIK.
Besides providing secure operation, the Master CIK allows you to add
interoperable CIKs to the terminal after the fill procedure is complete, and
to enable and disable the speakerphone and the SACS option.

When referring to interoperable CIKs, "interoperability" means you can use
up to seven terminals with one CIK. The SECTEL 1500 formats the seven
fields, numbered 2-8, of the interoperable CIK for storage of CIK data.
Eield number 1is always reserved for Master CIK.
When the terminal programs aCIK, it loads the new CIK data in one of the
unused fields in the device. If all seven fields of aCIK are full, the terminal
displays the following message:
(
)
T O N E
C L E A R
P R G M
V O I C E
2 . 4
8 5 9 6 4 - 6 0
When this occurs, you can erase one CIK field, or use adifferent CIK. This
procedure is explained in Chapter 5.
