PURPOSE OF EQUIPMENT
The SECTEL 1500 (Figure 1-1) provides voice and data encryption com¬
patible with the STU III secure telephones. The SECTEL 1500 provides the
encryption capabilities necessary to protect commercial or military tele¬
c o m m u n i c a t i o n s .
The SECTEL 1500 is available in both the Universal Singleline Model
(Figure 1-1) and the Universal Multiline Model (Figure 1-2).
U n i v e r s a l S i n g l e l i n e M o d e l
The Universal Singleline SECTEL 1500 is atwo-wire/four-wire desktop
telephone that can be programmed to function in an AUTO VON/I VSN net¬
work. The Universal Singleline model connects to the telephone system by
a n R J l 1 C m o d u l a r l i n e c o r d .

M o d e l
The Universal Multiline SECTEL 1500 is compatible with the 1A2 key
system and can be installed in an existing 1A2 system. The Universal Mul¬
tiline provides four-line capability, an intercom and ahold function (or five
lines and ahold function). The telephone line cord is hard-wired to the
instrument and terminates with a50-pin cable connector compatible with
those used in the 1A2 system.
