CONTROLS
[] TuningSelector:Press the leftsideof the button
totunelower-frequency stations andthe rightsideof
thebuttontotunehigher-frequency
stations. When
thetuneris inthe MAN UA L / M0 N 0 mode,
eachtap of theSelector w ill increase or decrease t he
frequency b y oneincrement. Whenthetunerreceives
astro%-enough signal f oradequate reception,
MA NUA L T U NE D willappear i nthe Lower
DisplayLine []
andinthe on-screen display. When
thetuneris inthe A UT 0 / ST E RE 0 mode,
pressthe buttononce, a ndthe tunerwillscantora
staSon w ithacceptable s ignal s trength. When the
nexthigher- o r Iowepfrequency station witha strong-
enough signalistuned,the frequency s canwill stop
andthe Lower DisplayLine [] andtheon screen
display will indicate A UT 0 T UN ED. Whenan
FMStereostationis tuned,thedisplay willread

[] TunerBandSelector:Pressing t hisbuttonwill
automatically switchtheAVR635 to theTuner m ode,

scrollupor downthrough the listof stations t hathave

change the inputby scrolM% up or downthrough the
listof inputsources.
[] TuningModeSelector:Press thisbutton to select
Autoor Manual tuning. Whenthebutton is pressed so
thatA UT 0 / g T ER E0 appears intheUpper
DisplayLine _"l_J, thetunerwillsearch forthe next
station withanacceptable s ignal w hen the Tuning
Selector[]_[_
ispressed. When thebuttonis
pressed sothatMAN UAL / M0 N0 appears i nthe
UpperDisplayLine [], eachpressofthe Tuning
Selector[]_
will increase t he f_equency. (See

button mayalsobeusedto switch beb_veen Stereo and
Monomodes forFMradioreception. When weak
reception i s encountered, select t he ManuaVMono
tuning mode. P ress andholdagain to switchback to

Front-Panel C ontrolDoor:Toopenthe doorso
thatthe frontpanel j acksandcontrols behind thisdoor
maybe accessed, gentlypullthe doordownand
towards youusingeither u ppercorner of the door.

VolumeControl:Turnthisknobclockwise to
increase thevolume, c ounterclockwise to decrease the
volume, I ftheAVR635 ismuted, a djusting thevolume
control w ill automatically release the unitfromthe
silenced condition.

Input Indicators:Oneof theseindicators w illlight
to identity the currently s elected input.Notethatthe
enllrelistwill lightbridly eachtimetheunitis turned
on asa test.

Speaker/Channel I nput Indicators:These indi
cators aremulSpu_pose,
indicating b otts thespeaker
typeselected foreachchannel andtheincoming d ata
signal c onfigurallon. Theleft,center, right,right s urround
andleftsurround speaker i ndicators arecomposed of
threeboxes, whilethesubwoofer isa single box.The
center b oxlights whena "small" s peaker i s selected,
andtheb_vo o uterboxes lightwhen"large" s peakers a re
selected. Whennoneofthe boxes arelitforthecenter,
surround or subwoofer channels, no speaker h asbeen
assigned t hatposi_on. (See page27 formoreinforma-
tiononconfiguring s peakers.) Theletlers inside each
boxdisplays t heactive inputchannels. Forstandard
analog inputs, onlytheL andRwill light, i ndicating a
stereo input, F oradigital s ource, theindicators will light
to display thechannels b eingreceived a t thedigital
input. W henthelefters flash, t he digital i nputhasbeen
interrupted. (See page36 formoreinformation on the
Channel Indicators.)

UpperDisplayLine: Depending o nthe unit's
status, a varietyof messages w illappearhem.In
normal o peration, thislinewill show the current i nput
source andidenllty whether a nanalog or digital i nput
is inuse,Whenthetuneris selected astheinput,this
linewill identify t he staSon a sAM or FMandshowthe
frequency a ndpresetnumbe_, if any.

Lower DisplayLine: Depending o nthe unit's

on thisline.

SurroundModeIndicators:Oneofthese

use.Depending o n the specific combinallon o f input

RemoteSensorWindow:Thesensor b ehind
thiswindow receives infrared signals florathe remote
control. A imthe remote at thisareaanddo not block
or coverit unless an external remote sensoris
installed.
