2. Press the Main PowerSwitch [] located

Usingthe On-ScreenDisplay

Toviewthe on screenmenus, makecertain youhave

videoinputof yourTVor projectoL Inorderto viewthe
AVR 635's displays, the correct v ideosourcemustbe
selected on thevideodisplay. Theon-screen menus
arenot available w hena component video
display is in use,
IMPORTANT NOTE: W hen viewing t heon-screen
menus using a CR_based p rojector, plasma d isplay or
direct-view C RT monitor o r television, it isimportant that
theynotbe leftonforanextended p eriod of time. T he
constant display o f a stahc image suchasthesemenus
maycause theimage to bepermanently "burned into"
theprojection t ubes, p lasma s creen or CRT Thistypeof
damage isnotcovered bytheAVR635warranty a nd
maynot becovered bytheprojecto_/TV set'swarranty.
TheAVR635 hasb_vo o n screendisplay modes,
"Semi O SD" a nd"FullOSD." W henmaking configure
tionadjustments, it is recommended thatthefullOSD
modebe used. T hiswillplacean easilyviewed listof
the available o ptions on thescreen.
Making ConfigurationAdjustments
ThefullOSDsystem is available b y pressing the
OSDButton dD Whenthisbuttonis pressed, the
MASTER MENU (Figure 1) willappear; and
adjustments aremadefromtheindividual menus.

Whenthefull OSDmenusystemis
used,0 SD 0 N willappear i nthe UpperDisplay

used. W henthe semiOSDsystemis usedin conjunc
tionwiththe discrete configuration b uttons, the on
screen display will showa single lineof textwiththe
current m enuselection. Thatselection will alsobe
showninthe Upperor Lower DisplayLines [][],
depending onwhichparameter i s beingadjusted.
Setting the SystemConfigurationMemory
TheAVR635features an advanced m emon/system
thatenables youto establish different c onfigurations
forthe speaker " size/' c omponent videoassignment,
digitalinput, s urround modeandcrossover frequency
for eachinputsource. Thisflexibility e nables youto
customize thewayinwhichyoulisten to eachsource
andhavetheAVR635 memorize thosesettings. This
means, forexample, thatyoumaysetdifferent s peaker
configurations withthe resultant changes t o the bass
management system, O ncethesesettings am made,
theywillautomatically be recalled whenever youselect
thatinput.
Thefactory default s ettings forthe AVR635 haveall
inputs except f or DVD andVideo3 configured foran
analog audioinput, t heCoaxialDigitalAudioInput1
t_ forDVD andthe OpticalDigitalInput 1
isthe default f orVideo3, Thedefault s peaker s ettings
are"Small" a t all positions, withthe Subwoofer on.
Thedefault s ettingtot thesurround modesis Logic7
Music foranalog sources. D olbyDigital o r DTS will
automatically be selected asappropriate w hena digital
sourceis inuse,
Betoreusing the unit,youmaywantto change the
settings forsomeinputs so thattheyareproperly
configured to reflect t he useof digital o r analoginputs,
the typeof speakers i nstalled andthe surround mode
specifics of yourhometheater s ystem. R emember
thatsince theAVR635 memorizes the settings for
eachinputindividually, youwillneedto makethese
adjustments foreachinputused.However, oncethey
aremade,further a djustment is required onlywhen
systemcomponents are changed.
Tomakethisprocess asquickandeasyaspossible,
wesuggest t hatyouusethef_ll-OSD system withthe
on-screen menus, andsteplhmugheachinput. O nce
you havecompleted t he settings forthe firstinput,
manysettings maybe duplicated f orthe remaining
inputs, i t is alsoa goodideato settheconfiguration
dataintheordertheseitemsarelisted inthe II A S -
T ER 11 E NU, assomesettings require a specific
entryina priormenuitem.
Input Setup
Thefirststepis toconfigure eachinput. O ncean
inputisselected, t he settings f orthe Digital I nput,
Component Videoassignment andSurround Modewill
"attach" t hemselves t o thatinputandbestoredina
nonvolatile m emory, Thismeans thatoncemade, t he
selection of aninputwillautomatically recall t hoseset
tings.Forthatreason, t he procedures d escribed b elow
mustbe repeated foreachinputsourcesothatyou
havetheopportunity t o customize e achsource to your
specific listening requirements. However, oncemade,
theyneednotbe changed againunless youneedto
