SuperStorage Server 2029P-DN2R24L User's Manual
3.4 Memory Support and Installation
Note: Check the Supermicro website for recommended memory modules.
Important: Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM modules to prevent any
damage.
This document provides the user with an easy-to-use guide for proper memory configuration
and installation for the X11 UP/DP/MP (Socket P/Socket P0) motherboards utilizing 3DS
LRDIMM/LRDIMM/3DS RDIMM/RDIMM/NV-DIMM DDR4 (288-pin) ECC memory with speeds
of 2933*/2666/2400/2133 memory modules (*Note below).
To ensure proper memory installation, please carefully follow the information and instructions
provided in this user's guide.
Note: 2933 MHz memory is supported by the 82xx/62xx series processors only.
ESD Precautions
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage electronic com ponents including memory modules.
To avoid damaging your DIMM modules, it is important to handle it very carefully. The following
measures are generally sufficient to protect your equipment from ESD.
Precautions
•
Use a grounded wrist strap designed to prevent static discharge.
•
Handle the memory module by its edges only.
•
Put the memory modules into the antistatic bags when not in use.
•
Check the Supermicro website for recommended memory modules
Introduction to Intel® Optane DC Persistent Memory
Intel® 82xx/62xx/52xx/4215 supports new DCPMM (Optane™ DC Persistent Memory
Modules) technology. DCPMM offers data persistence with higher capacity at lower latencies
than the existing memory modules and provides hyper-speed storage capability for high
performance computing platforms with flexible configuration options.
Memory Support
The motherboard features 12 slots that can support up to 3 TB of 3DS Load Reduced
DIMM (3DS LRDIMM), 3DS Registered DIMM (3DS RDIMM) and NV-DIMM DDR4 (288-pin)
ECC memory 2933/2666/2400/2133 Mhz speed modules in up to 12 slots per node. Refer
to the following tables for detailed information on memory support for the X11 UP/DP/MP
motherboards.
