2.3 Memory Support and Installation

Note: Check the Supermicro website for recommended memory modules.
Important: Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM modules to prevent
any possible damage.

Memory Support

The X12SDV-10C/8C/4C-SPT4F motherboard supports up to 128GB of ECC or non-ECC
DDR4 RDIMM/UDIMM memory to 2667 MT/s (10C and 8C) and 2933 MT/s (4C). Populating
the DIMM slots with memory modules of the same type and size will result in interleaved
memory, which will improve memory performance.

General Guidelines for Optimizing Memory Performance

It is recommended to use DDR4 memory of the same type, size, and speed.
Mixed DIMM speeds can be installed. However, all DIMMs will run at the speed of the
slowest DIMM.
The motherboard will support an odd number of modules (one installed). However, to
achieve the best memory performance, a balanced memory population is recommended.
