Manual transmission oil level
check
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal Injury,
do not check the oil level unless the
Ignition switch has been turned com­
pletely "OFf'" and the engine has
cooled sufficiently.
Park the vehicle on a level surface and
apply the parking brake. Turn the ignition
switch "OFF".
Remove the filler plug and check the trans­
mission oil level with your finger.

If the transmission oil level is less than 5 mm
(0.2 in.) below the bottom edge of the hole,
the oil level is satisfactory.
If the oil level is satisfactory, reinstall the filler
plug with new gasket interposed and tighten
it securely.
Tightening torque: 3 - 5 kgf-m
(21.7 - 36.2 ft-lb, 29.4 - 49.0 N·m)
When the oil level is low, add the specified
oil until it starts to flow out of the filler hole.
For recommended manual transmission oil,
see Section 14.
Reinstall the filler plug with new gasket
interposed and tighten it securely.
Tightening torque: 3 - 5 kgf-m
(21.7 - 36.2 ft-lb, 29.4 - 49.0 N·m)
Automatic transmission fluid
level check
Check the fluid level when the transmission
fluid temperature is 70 - 80
°
If the vehicle has been driven for about 15
minutes at a speed of 60 km/h or for about
30 minutes at a speed of 40 km/h, the fluid
temperature becomes about 70 - 80
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and
apply the parking brake.
2. Run the engine at idling speed and firmly
depress the brake pedal. Move the shift
lever from ® to Cb) smoothly and return
to®.
3. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean.
Insert it into the original position.
