6.1.6. Security Setup
Two Levels of Password Protection
The setup provides both a Supervisor and a User password. If you use both passwords, the Supervisor
password must be set first. The system can be configured so that all users must enter a password every time
the system boots or when Setup is executed. If you forget it, you must clear the NVRAM and reconfigure the
system.
Supervisor Password
Indicates whether a supervisor password has been set. If the password has been installed, Installed displays. If
not, Not Installed displays.
User Password
Indicates whether a user password has been set. If the password has been installed, Installed displays. If not,
Not Installed displays.
Change Supervisor Password
Select this option and press <Enter> to access the sub menu and change the supervisor password. The
password is stored in NVRAM after the setup completes.
Change User Password
Select this option and press <Enter> to access the sub menu and change the user password. The password is
stored in NVRAM after the setup completes.
Clear User Password
Select this option and press <Enter> to access the sub menu and clear the user password in the NVRAM.
Boot Sector Virus Protection
If a program or a virus accesses the boot sector of the hard disk, a warning appears if the option is set to
Enabled, otherwise nothing happens (Disabled).
