GeneralThis
section
provides
information
necessary
to
perform
maintenance
checks
and
gen¬eral
repairs
of
systems
or
parts
that
may
become
inoperable.
It
is
Important
to
both
theclient
and
the
company
that
preventive
maintenance
checks
be
performed
wheneverpossible,
to
detect
minor
problems
before
they
develop
into
major
repairs.
Schematicwiring
diagrams
in
Section
3
provide
an
aid
for
the
proper
wiring
of
replacement
parts.and
adjustment
procedures,
where
applicable.
Refer
to
Figures
8-1
through
8-24
forlocation
of
component
parts.6-2.
Preventive
Maintenance
ChecksTo
ensure
maximum
performance
of
the
centrifuge,
the
following
systems
should
bechecked
on
a
periodic
basis.NOTEThe
following
special
tools
are
required:
(1)
ammeter:
Triplet
clamp-ontype
No.
10
or
equivalent;
(2)
refrigerant
pressure
indicator:
ImperialSystem
Analyzer
or
equivalent;
and
(3)
a
portable
tachometer.a.
Checks
With
Power
OFF1.
Set
main
power
switch
to
OFF.2.
Unplug
the
main
power
cord
from
socket.3.
Remove
cover
seal
in
the
base
of
the
centrifuge
chamber.4.
Remove
insulation
disc.5.
Turn
gyro
by
hand
(right
to
left)
and
listen
for
worn
bearing
noises
or
loose
fittings.6.
Remove
gyro
assembly,
then
turn
the
lower
coupling
by
hand
(right
to
left)
and
lis¬ten
for
worn
bearing
noises
in
the
drive
motor
armature.7.
Visually
check
the
brush
wear
on
the
drive
motor
armature
commutator.8.
Perform
repairs
as
required.9.
Vacuum
dust
from
all
operating
parts
of
the
centrifuge.6-1
