258 Multimedia system

The road and tra c rules and regulations always
have priority over multimedia system driving
instructions.
The following driving instructions can be used:
Navigation announcements
R
Route guidance displays
R
Lane recommendations
R
If you do not follow the driving instructions or if
you leave the calculated route, a new route is cal-
culated automatically.
Driving instructions may di er from the actual
road and tra c conditions if:
The route is diverted
R
The direction of a one-way street has been
R
changed
For this reason, you must always observe road
and tra c rules and regulations during your jour-
ney as well as the prevailing tra c conditions.
The route may di er from the ideal route due to
the following:

Incomplete digital map data

The correct function of the navigation system
depends amongst other things on GPS reception.
In certain situations GPS reception can be
impaired, defective or even not possible, e.g. in
tunnels or in parking garages.

There are three phases when changing direction:
Preparation phase
R
If there is enough time between the changes
of direction, the multimedia system prepares
you for the upcoming change of direction. A
navigation announcement is issued, e.g. "Pre-
pare to turn right".
The map appears in full-screen mode.
Announcement phase
R
The multimedia system announces the upcom-
ing change of direction, e.g. by announcing
"Turn right in 300
(100 m)".
The display is split into two parts. The map is
displayed on the le ; on the right, there is a
detailed image of the intersection or a 3D
image of the upcoming change of direction.
Change-of-direction phase
R
The multimedia system announces the immi-
nent change of direction, e.g. by announcing
"Now turn right".
The display is split into two parts.
The vehicle has successfully changed direction
when the light-color bar on the right drops
