Screen Blanking Utility
The VX5 can be configured to blank the display when the vehicle to which it is mounted is
moving. When configured properly, the screen blanking feature provides a tamper resistant
method to blank the vehicle screen.

Step 1 – Build a Loopback Cable Assembly
The customer must supply their own cable. The cable must be designed so that pin 7 (RTS –
Request to Send Output) and pin 8 (Clear to Send Input) of a D9 female connector provide
continuity only when the vehicle is stopped (for example, via a switch on the accelerator pedal of
the fork truck). All other pins on the connector must be left unconnected. If pins 7 and 8 do not
provide continuity (or the cable is removed), the VX5 screen remains blank.
The cable can be hooked to either the COM1 or COM2 port. The COM port used must be
selected during "Step 3 - Configuring the Screen Control Service".
