Reference Chain Configuration

All three modules use the same reference chain. In the HP 70427A
Microwave Downconverter the reference chain is the local oscillator. With
the HP 70428A Microwave Source the reference chain is the source,
likewise with the HP 70427A and HP 70428A Option 002 in source mode.
In the HP 70428A Option 002 Microwave Source the reference chain
generates a local oscillator signal that is used to upconvert the output of an
HP 8662A/3A Signal Generator.
The reference chain consists of three oscillators: 10 MHz reference, 100
MHz, and 600 MHz. The chain can be configured with all three oscillators
locked together, the 600 MHz oscillator locked to the 100 MHz oscillator, or
the 600 MHz oscillator free-running. All of the configurations can be tuned
externally. Also, the bandwidths of the 100 MHz and 600 MHz phase-
lock-loops can be selected from a menu.
