Configuring the data collection devices for a TCP/IP
client/server environment consists of these steps:
1 Writing TCP/IP client/server applications. For help, see the
next section, "Writing TCP/IP Client/Server Applications."
2 Sending data from the host application. For help, see
"Sending Data From the Host Application" on this page.
3 Sending data from the device. For help, see "Sending Data
From the Device" on page 86.
You need to provide your own custom client application.
For help, see the SDK or PSK documentation available for your
device. Please visit our web site at www.intermec.com to
download our current manuals in PDF format.
The first packet from the host contains only the host application
name. The host application name can be from 1 to 16 characters
long. If a longer name is sent, the name is truncated to 16
characters. The host application name must be different from
any other device defined in the Intermec Gateway.
Data packets from the host use the following format:
<4-byte header>DeviceName,Data
where:
4-byte header The header for the data. The first two bytes of
the header are reserved for the header signature
with the hexadecimal value 0x66 for ASCII
character f. The second two bytes contain the
actual length of the data packet in network byte
order.
