COUNTERWEIGHTS

Fixed Counterweight Description
The counterweight is pinned to the rear of the turntable and
weighs approximately 3817 kg (8416 lb). For cranes without
a n a u x i l i a r y h o i s t , a n a d d i t i o n a l 3 5 0 . 6 k g ( 7 7 3 l b )
counterweight is bolted to the hoist mounting area in lieu of
the auxiliary hoist.
Fixed Counterweight Removal
DANGER
Death or serious injury could result from being crushed by
a falling counterweight.
Fabricated Counterweight
GROVE
SET-UP AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
Ensure the primary retainer pin assembly is properly
installed to secure the counterweight.
NOTE: Use of a forklift to remove/install the fixed
counterweight is not recommended.
NOTE: Refer to (Figure 4-15) for fabricated counterweight
and refer to (Figure 4-16) for cast counterweight
configurations.
