Specific cables are required for connection to different hosts. The connectors illustrated
above are examples only. Actual connectors may vary from those illustrated, but the steps
to connect the reader remain the same.
RF Models
The power supply connects directly to the base (not on the cable's jack) for all configurations.
For all interfaces (except RS-232) a power supply is recommended but not necessary, because
the base can be powered from the Host. When the base is powered from the Host, it automati-
cally selects a slow charge rate.

essary) before proceeding. Connect the interface cable before applying power to the Base Sta-
tion.
The QuickScan QM/QBT24XX can also be Powered by the Terminal. When powered by the Ter-
minal, the battery charger is automatically set as Slow charge.
For some specific interfaces or hosts or lengths of cable, the use of an external power supply
may be recommended for full recharging capability (see
page 265 for more details).
