5.4 Lowering the Cutter
Transport lock bar is provided for the center lift cylinder and a ball valve is provided on the wing lift circuit.
When the transport lock bar is used on the center lift cylinder it prevents the mower from suddenly dropping
due to a hydraulic cylinder or hose failure. When the ball valve is actuated it prevents oil flow in the hydraulic
wing lift circuit so the wings of the mower cannot be activated accidently.
FULLY extend the center lift cylinder until there is
no weight on the center transport lockup bar. Flip
the lockup bar up and away from the center
cylinder and use the retainer pin to lock it in the
storage location. NEVER force the transport
lockup bar from its position. If the lockup bar does
not move freely then the center cylinder is not fully
extended. If the rotary cutter has been supplied to
you already assembled, it is possible that the lift
cylinder is not completely filled with oil.
Actuate the handle of the ball valve so it is in line
with the ball valve body. This will allow oil to flow
freely to the wing hydraulic lift circuit. Fully retract
the cylinders to ensure the cylinders are in the
proper location of the floating lug and to ensure
they are full of oil. Once the cylinders are fully
retracted you may extend the cylinders which in
turn lowers the wings.

6. SETTING THE MOWER

Properly setting the cutting height is essential for efficient and safe operation. A properly set mower will make
a more uniform cut, distribute clippings more evenly, require minimal tractor work, and follow the contour of
uneven terrain. NOTE: Avoid very low cutting heights, striking the ground with the blades gives the most
damaging shock loads and will cause damage to the mower and drive. Blades contacting the ground may
cause objects to be thrown out from under the mower deck. Always avoid operating the mower at a height
which causes the blades to contact the ground. OPS-U- 0010
Never work under the Implement, the framework, or any lifted
component unless the Implement is securely supported or blocked up
to prevent sudden or inadvertent falling which could cause serious
injury or even death.
