6.4 Lowering the Cutter

Transport lock pins are provided for the center
phasing and wing lift hydraulic cylinders. These
pins are inserted in their respective holes, they
prevent the wings or center frame from dropping
due to a hydraulic cylinder or hose failure.
FULLY extend the phasing cylinders until there is
no weight on the center transport pin (1). REMOVE
the transport pin (red pin) from the lock bar (position
A) and MOVE IT to the storage location (position
B). Fasten it with the lynch pin. NEVER force the
transport pin from its position. If the pin does not
move freely then the center cylinder is not fully
extended. If the rotary cutter has been supplied to
you already assembled it is also possible that the
phasing hydraulic cylinders are not completely filled
with oil.
FULLY retract the wing lift cylinders until there is no
weight on the wing lock up lever. Remove the snap
pin from the lever pivot assembly and push the
lever forward to release the lock pin. Re-insert the
snap pin to lock the lever into position.
NEVER force the lever forward. If the lever does not
move freely then the cylinders are not fully
retracted. If the rotary cutter has been supplied to
you already assembled then it is also possible that
the wing lift hydraulics are not completely filled with.

7. SETTING THE MOWER

Properly setting the cutting height is essential for efficient and safe operation. A properly set mower will make
a more uniform cut, distribute clippings more evenly, require minimal tractor work, and follow the contour of
uneven terrain. NOTE: Avoid very low cutting heights, striking the ground with the blades gives the most
damaging shock loads and will cause damage to the mower and drive. Blades contacting the ground may
cause objects to be thrown out from under the mower deck. Always avoid operating the mower at a height
which causes the blades to contact the ground. OPS-U- 0010
