OPERATION
10.6 Roadway Cutting - Blade Rotation
On roadway cutting the grass tends to be thicker and longer as you go down the ditch, away from the road. As
the tractor drives through the uncut grass, the grass is tramped forward and down by the tractor tires. Ideally
the blade rotation should pick up or stand up the tramped grass as it cuts it.
In the example shown, the tractor is traveling to the right, the grass will be tramped down in that direction. A
clockwise rotating blade set will do a better job picking up and cutting the grass tramped in the right track than
in the left track. The counter-clockwise rotating blade set will do a better job picking up and cutting the left track
than it will the right track.

10.7 Roadway Cutting - Against Traffic

NOTE: The following description is for a single lane
highway (one lane of traffic in each direction).
If the FX315 with standard rotation is used "against
traffic", it may leave a strip of longer grass in the left
tire track. If the cutter is to be consistently used for
cutting "against traffic", it is recommended that the
center section gearbox and blades be changed to a
counter-clockwise rotation. This will help pick up the
left tire track which is lower in the ditch, where the
grass tends to be heavier.
