Towing eye (Actros)
Raising and towing at towing eyes.

Adjust yoke to vehicle with yoke width extension (5).
•
Screw towing eyes (1) completely into front
crossmember and turn to horizontal position.
•
Mount towing eyes (1) with mounting forks (6).

To prevent the towing eyes from bouncing out of the
forks of the yoke during cornering or on surface
undulations, they must be secured, e.g. with a
chain.

Vehicles with air suspension: When the vehicle is
being lowered, ensure that the air bellows, which
may have lifted out, unroll correctly and that the
pistons are threaded into the guides.

Raising by the front axle

The towing eye (1) consists of a special material with
exceptionally high strength values. For this reason only
genuine towing eyes should be used. For maximum
permissible tractive forces, see chapter "Maximum
permissible tractive forces".
A second towing eye is required if you wish to raise the
vehicle at the front. These can be purchased from a
Mercedes-Benz Service Center, see page 68. You can
tow a fully laden vehicle raised at the front using the
second towing eye.

Tie up front axle housing on damper holder (2) using
chains or tensioning straps (1).
