Automatic deactivation of natural gas system
The gas shutoff valves (2) of the gas cylinders (1) are
designed for an operating pressure of 200 bar. They
serve for closing and opening the gas cylinders (1).
During engine operation, the gas shutoff valves (2) of the
gas cylinders (1) are actuated by the motor control
module (NGT) and thus facilitate the withdrawal of gas
from the gas cylinder (1). When deenergized, they are
closed.
In the case of a line break, the flow-rate limiter (4)
prevents a sudden escape of gas from the gas cylinder

Gas cylinders (1) can be manually shut off if necessary.
This is realized by turning the mechanical shutoff valve

The gas reservoir fill level indicator (1) is located at the
bottom left in the IC (ICUC) control unit (A1).

(1). The flow-rate limiter (4) is inactive for a normal
withdrawal of gas for engine operation.
For a shutoff vehicle in gasoline operating mode and in
the case of an accident, the gas cylinders (1) are
automatically locked by an electromagnetic shutoff
valve. The thermally activated safety valves with fuse
(effective area 110 °C ±10 °C), rupture disks as well as
flow-rate limiter (4) prevent the gas cylinders (1) from
bursting. In the event of overtemperature, the fuses are
tripped to eject the gas in a controlled manner.

shutoff may be necessary if the safety solenoid valve is
damaged or the fuse is defective.
