Removing the drive shafts of the planetary hub
reduction axle
When removing, note the installation sequence of the
shims.
•
Pull ignition key out of key slot.
•
Lock the differential with a bolt.
•
Unscrew drain screw from planetary hub reduction axles.
•
Collect escaping oil in a suitable container.
•
Remove end cover (3) of planetary hub reduction axle.
•
Remove circlips (1) with pliers.
•
Remove both drive shafts together with sun gear.
To do so, use special tool (2) or an M8 screw 120 mm long.
•
Detach sun gear from drive shaft and reinstall.
•
Attach end covers (3).
Filling the planetary hub reduction axle with oil

Add oil to planetary hub reduction drive if towing
distance exceeds 100 km.
•
Unscrew oil filler screw from center of end cover (3).
•
Screw oil filler can (4) into end cover (3).
•
Add oil (3.25 L on each side of wheel) to planetary hub reduction drive.
Only use clean transmission oil.
•
Unscrew oil replenishment tank (4).
•
Screw in and tighten oil filler screw.
