The 6-speed automatic transmission
is available as an option with
integrated output shaft retarder. The
output shaft retarder is a wear-free
oil brake which is integrated into the
rear of the transmission. It is
operated via the multifunction control
lever. The new retarder pressure
reservoir is integrated in the frame.
The automatic transmission is
operated using a touch-key gearshift
on the instrument panel and features
"economy" and "performance"
transmission modes.
After starting the engine, the
"Economy" standard drive program is
active. On fire-fighting vehicles, the
transmission mode "performance" is
activated when the engine is started.
