Live power take-off
• Apply parking brake.
• Shift transmission to neutral.
• Start engine.
• Press bottom of power take-off switch.
• Switch electronic ignition lock to position 0.
• Take adapter, wrench, screwdriver and hammer from
vehicle tool kit.
• Remove cover cap (1) using a screwdriver and a
hammer.
• Fit adapter with wrench at position (2) on shaft.
You can identify vehicles with power take-off N4W or
N4X by the external clutch actuator. If there is a cover
panel at this position, the vehicle is equipped with power
take-off N4Y or N4Z.
• Vehicles with power take-off variant A (N4Y or
N4Z): Turn the wrench to position (3).

Live power take-off (NMV) emergency shift mode
• If the power take-off was previously automatically
engaged via the switch in vehicles with power
take-off variant B (N4W or N4X): Turn the wrench
to position (4).
or
• If the power take-off was previously manually
engaged in vehicles with power take-off variant B
(N4W or N4X): Turn the wrench to position (3).
• Take off wrench and adapter.
• Attach cover cap (1).
• Start engine.
If the power take-off is switched off, the display in the
instrument cluster displays the switch position. The
indicator lamp int he switch goes out.
