Power-Up and Self-Test

Before making connections, determine whether the SC-ADT can be powered from the same AC
circuit as the equipment connected to its terminal server ports. Having the SC-ADT and the
connecting equipment on the same AC circuit prevents large circulating currents caused by
differences in ground potential.
Note
If you cannot determine whether both devices are on the same circuit, verify that the potential difference
between the grounding circuits of the respective power outlets is no more than 0.25V rms.
Note
The AC outlet that powers the SC-ADT units should not be under switch control.
To connect the unit to power and perform a pre-operation Self-Test, do the following:
1. Attach the power cord (GDC P/N 830-024-003) to the SpectraComm shelf rear panel IEC-320
connector, and to the wall receptacle that supplies the required AC power.
2. Make sure there are no site or network cables connected to the intended rear panel slot.
3. Ensure the card is properly seated in the shelf slot and power is supplied to the shelf/enclosure.
Refer to the
4. Verify that the all front Panel LEDs flash red, then green, then off, and that the ON LED is on.
5. The SC-ADT is now ready for cable connections and configuration to suit your network
requirements.
Note
IMPORTANT: The SC-ADT comes from the factory with the Modem interface
configuration. As a security precaution, do not connect the Modem ports to the network until the default
password has been changed via the Craft port. (See
