Dialin Mode Overview

When a front panel port is configured for Dialin mode, the SC-ADT can support a modem at that
port for the purpose of accepting incoming calls and connecting to a predetermined Telnet server.
Each port configured for dialin must have at least a configured primary Telnet Server IP address,
and optimally a backup Telnet server IP address to handle the case when the primary server is
unavailable.
For online help in configuring a port for Dialin mode, type:
configure ports mode dialin ?

Dialin Connect/SDisconnect Sequence
The connect/disconnect sequence at a configured Dialin port is as follows:
1. When a connected modem answers a call, the associated ADT port first tries to connect to the
primary Telnet server.
If the connection to the primary Telenet server fails (unreachable or refused), the port
tries to connect to the backup Telnet server, if configured.
If the Telnet connection is unsuccessful, appropriate messages are sent to the modem user
and logged to SYSMSG log, and the modem is forced to hangup and await another call.
2. With a successful Telnet connection, the Telnet session will continue until closed by the user or
the Telnet server.
The modem is then forced to hang up and wait for another call.
After the ADT-connected modem hangs up, the remote modem hangs up in about 30
seconds.
3. In the unlikely event that a Telnet session fails to close, the session can be forced to close by
one of the following methods, as appropriate:
At the Telnet window, enter the Telnet escape sequence (CTRL-]
At the Telnet window, enter the Telnet command c(lose), q(uit), e(xit) or similar
command. The embedded Help for your Telnet client ( e.g., telnet> ?) will list the
available Telnet commands.
With the Dialin port temporarily set to Term and the modem set to AT command mode, send the
AT command +++ATH0 to the local modem. (The ADT should detect the local modem hangup,
and close the Telnet session.) Return the port and modem to the original operating modes.
From the ADT CLI main screen, type configure dialin disconnect to force
a disconnect of any and all dialin connections.
