Contact Sense

The SC-ADT provides contact sensing in the form of environmental inputs and control outputs via
the rear panel DB25 interface; it can also support two modes of input only contact sensing at the
front panel interfaces. When an external device is properly connected to an interface configured for
environmental inputs, the SC-ADT will sense the state of the contacts. When connected to an
interface configured for control output, the SC-ADT will create an open or closed circuit that
applies a specific operational state at the external device. The SC-ADT polls both input and output
contact sense connections very rapidly, providing simultaneous contact sensing, SNMP traps and
log entries for all configured ports.
The SC-ADT rear panel DB25 interface can support up to eight input connections to external
dry contact devices, and up to two output connections to internal relays. This contact interface
is described in detail below.
For input contact sensing at the front panel interfaces, the SC-ADT can support 16 or 32 ports
of Range (Hi/Lo) Mode or Sense Mode contact sensing connections to external dry contact
devices. This interface is described later in this section.

Rear Panel Contact Sense Interface

Input Contact Sensing
The rear panel DB25 connector can support up to eight environmental inputs. Each input contact
must be configured as Normally Opened or Normally Closed. A closed condition on a normally
opened port will cause an ACTIVE condition. Likewise, an open condition on a normally closed
contact will cause an ACTIVE condition. When the contact returns to its normal state a CLEAR
condition is in effect. Any transition between open and closed will generate an SNMP trap which
is recorded in the SYS MSG log and the Alarm log.
