Driving and operating
If the attitude of the vehicle is compromised, adjust the vehicle and trailer load within the specifications to improve the
attitude. If the vehicle's attitude cannot be corrected, use a load distribution hitch.
Note
At no time may the maximum towing capacity exceed the maximums specified. Refer to Maximum towing capacity
previously in this chapter.
At no time may the total rear axle load exceed the maximums specified. Refer to Loading the vehicle previously in this
chapter.
Towing precautions
■ When heavily loading your vehicle or when towing, your tyres should be inflated to the maximum recommended pressure.
Refer to tyre pressure placard and information about tyre pressures 3 166.
■ Tighten the tow ball retaining nut to 140 Nm (Newton Meters) and check the torque frequently.
■ Vehicles handle differently when towing. It is a good idea to make a couple of short distance trips with the trailer before
setting off on a longer journey.
■ Have your vehicle correctly maintained and serviced.
