DigiPackⅡ Manual, Installation and Maintenance
1-5. MECHANICAL INSTALLATION
GENERAL
1-5-1.
Mounting provisions for the tooling servoactuator
should include a stable mounting platform for the
tooling actuator, a filter location which allows the
filter element to be readily replaced and mechanical
provisions allowing simple adjustment of the me-
chanical relationship between the actuator and the

die gap. "
" shows such as a well planned
installation.
A tooling servoactuator provides a long lived solution
to the problems caused by high temperatures and
force levels. Low friction seals and strong bearings
insure long term and good tooling die gap positioning
performance. A built in position transducer provides
mechanical isolation from shocks and climbing feet. A
directly manifold servovalve is tightly coupled to the

actuator. "

actuator with provisions for pre-blow air.
Figure 1-6
"
" shows a typical tooling actuator instal-
lation. A servovalve (upper right) is directly mounted
on a manifold, which in turn is attached to a tooling
actuator. Directly below is a DCDT position trans-
ducer measuring the actuator rod and die gap tooling
motion. In addition, a high pressure filter mounted
directly on the manifold provides clean oil to the
servovalve. Tooling adjustment provisions are also
shown.

To set up the Moog DigiPack II on a machine, follow these key steps:
1. Installer Requirements: The installer must be familiar with electrical wiring, hydraulic plumbing, basic metal work, and have some understanding of the blow molding process. Use of test instruments like a digital voltmeter is also required.
2. Mechanical Installation:
- Install and adjust tooling and die gap actuators.
- Mount the servovalve and manifold.
- Install the hydraulic cylinder and ensure it meets customer specifications.
- Measure and set accumulator position.
- Ensure proper filtration and install filters.
- Connect the hydraulic power supply and follow startup instructions.
- Implement contamination control.
3. Electrical Installation: Follow the manual's guidance for electrical connections.
4. Software Update (if needed):
- Power off DigiPack II and remove the SD card.
- Save the “DIGIPK2.FWM” file to the SD card using a PC.
- Reinsert the SD card and power on the unit.
- Press “X10” and “Cursor Down” keys simultaneously during startup.
- Wait for the “Updating firmware……” message.
- Confirm update by checking the software version on the startup display.
5. Calibration and Setup:
- Set accumulator working stroke, shot size, and end position.
- Interface DigiPack II with the machine’s PLC for motion control.
Proper installation following the manual ensures reliable long-term operation.
