Troubleshooting
Cause
You have inserted a damaged
or incompatible memory card
into the card slot.
You tried to start photo printing
when the card slot was in use
by the computer.
The print head holder cannot
move. This is normally due to a
paper jam.
The paper size setting is set to a
size other than letter or A4.
The size of the paper in the
multi-purpose tray and that
specified in the paper size
setting are different.
For some reason, the machine
cannot operate.
There is a paper jam.
The machine is asking whether
you replaced the color ink tank.
The ink level in the color ink
tank is low.
You opened the scan unit
during an operation.
Action
Remove the memory card from the
card slot, then turn the power OFF
and ON again.
Wait until the card slot is no longer
being used by the computer.
Clear the paper jam or whatever is
obstructing the print head holder
and then press [Set]. Do not attempt
to move the print head holder
manually.
Set the paper size setting to letter or
A4 and load paper of the same size.
The received fax will then be
printed automatically.
Load the correct paper size or
change the paper size setting. Then
press [Set].
Turn OFF the machine, then ON. If
the problem is not resolved, contact
the Canon Customer Care Center.
Clear the paper jam and reload
paper in the multi-purpose tray.
Press [Set].
If you replaced the color ink tank,
press [ ]. If you did not, press [ ].
Make sure you have a new color ink
tank ready to replace the used one
when ink runs out. If the machine
stops printing when copying or
photo printing, you can continue
printing by pressing [Set].
However, note that ink may run out.
If print quality deteriorates or the
printout is blank, replace the ink
tank.
Return the scan unit to its original
position.
