Electrical connection

• Use shielded, low−capacitance measurement cables only (HBM cables
fulfill these conditions).
• Do not route measurement cables parallel to power lines and control
circuits. If this is not possible (in cable pits, for example), protect the
measurement cable with rigid steel conduits and keep it at least 50 cms
away from the other cables. The power lines or control circuits should be
twisted (15 twists per meter).
• Avoid stray fields from transformers, motors and contact switches.
• Do not ground the transducer, amplifier and indicator more than once. All
the devices in the measurement chain must be connected to the same
protective earth conductor.
• A four−wire configuration is used for the force transducers and the cable
must not be shortened.
• To achieve full accuracy, a six−wire configuration should be used for the
extension cable.
• The connection cable shielding is connected to the transducer housing.
• The BU18 build−up system can be connected both to carrier−frequency
and DC amplifiers. It is preferable to use high−precision amplifiers with a
200 − 600 Hz carrier frequency.
ATTENTION
Under no circumstances must the force transducer's screwed cable
gland be opened. Should this happen by mistake, the transducer must
be returned to the factory for repair.
