13. FLEX-ARM AND MOWER STORAGE

Properly preparing and storing the Flex-Arm at the end of the season is critical to maintaining its appearance
and to help ensure years of dependable service. The following are suggested storage procedures:
Clean any dirt or debris off the mower deck.
Thoroughly clean all debris off the flex arm
and mower to prevent damage from rotting
grass and standing water.
Lubricate all Flex-Arm and mower grease
points and fill gearbox oil levels as detailed
in the maintenance section.
Tighten
all
bolts
recommended torque.
Check the Flex-Arm and mower for worn
and damaged parts. Perform repairs and
make replacements immediately so that the
flex arm and mower will be ready for use at
the start of the next season.
Store the Flex-Arm and mower in a clean,
dry place with the flex arm frame and
mower housing resting securely on blocks
or at ground level.
Keep the driveline yokes from sitting in
water, dirt and other contaminants.
Use
spray
touch-up
necessary to prevent rust and maintain the appearance of the Flex-Arm and mower.
It is critical that the driveline clutch slip when an obstacle or heavy load is encountered to avoid Flex-Arm,
mower and tractor damage. If the Flex-Arm and mower sit outside for an extended period of time or is
exposed to rain and/or humid air, the clutch lining plates must be inspected to ensure they are not frozen
together from rust or corrosion. If the Flex-Arm and mower have been exposed to such conditions, at the start
of each mowing season, and any time it is suspected that the slip clutch plates may be frozen together,
readjust the slip clutch as detailed in slip clutches of the Maintenance Section in this manual. OPS-R-0098_A
