    Be sure to keep feet and hands clear of the mower blades. If you raise the mower or mower wing to access the blockage, engage the wing lock up latch and securely block up the mower before placing any parts of the body beneath the mower. This manual is provided to give you the necessary operating and maintenance instructions for keeping your rotary cutter in top operating condition.

    INTRODUCTION The FX-742 heavy duty rotary Cutter is designed primarily for weeds, grass, and brush to 2” diameter and consists of a center unit with two variable position wings together having a cutting width of 42 feet (12.8 m). Wing operating angles and machine cutting height are independently controlled using hydraulic cylinders.

    ALWAYS OPERATE WITH THE WING HYDRAULIC CYLINDER CONTROL VALVES IN A FLOAT POSITION. • For maximum performance and service life, Always use Genuine Schulte replacement parts. Operating Noise Level/Sound Pressure The sound levels at the operator's ear from the attached machine (rotary cutter) are at least 10 dB(A) below the levels from typical Agricultural tractors used to power and transport this machine.

    Test the circuit. The lights should operate in unison with your tractor lights. If the turning lamps are opposite to the tractor, reverse the output to extension harness connections.     ASSEMBLY Row Crop Wheel Standard Spacing FX-742 has adjustable wheel standards so it can be used in Row Crop. Adjust the wheel standards to the following dimensions according to your row width from 12” to 38 “(305 mm to 0.96 m). All dimension are from the end of beam to the center of the wheel standard as shown. Wheels may not be centered in row but are placed to allow for level machine operation.

  • Page 60 SCHULTE FX-742 ROTARY CUTTER OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS Schulte FX-742 rotary cutters are manufactured with quality material by skilled workers. These cutters are designed to cut grass, weeds, crop stalks, brush and other vegetation up to 2” (51 mm) diameter. The cutter is equipped with protective deflectors and/or chain guards to prevent objects being thrown from the cutter by the blades, however, no shielding is 100% effective.

    When not in use, store the safety chain to protect it from mud or standing water by wrapping the chain around the tongue.     4. After the wings are fully lowered, raise the FX- 742 using the height lift circuit. 5. When the FX-742 is fully raised, remove the center transport pin and place it in its storage location as indicated in Figure Ops-626.

    3. Shut down the tractor, place the transmission in park, and set the parking brake before dismounting the tractor. 4. Remove or add the necessary spacers on the cylinder rod so that the cylinder returns to the preset cutting height each time the cutter is lowered.     Replace bent or broken blades with new blades. NEVER ATTEMPT TO STRAIGHTEN, WELD, OR WELD HARDFACING ON BLADES SINCE THIS WILL LIKELY CRACK OR OTHERWISE DAMAGE THE BLADE WITH SUBSEQUENT FAILURE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY FROM THROWN BLADES.
