If you raise the mower or mower wing to access the blockage, engage the wing lock up latch and securely block up the mower before placing any parts of the body beneath the mower. This manual is provided to give you the necessary operating and maintenance instructions for keeping your rotary cutter in top operating condition.

    INTRODUCTION Your Schulte model FLX-1510 FLEX-ARM is designed to attach to a Schulte 10' or 15' cutter and be primarily used to cut weeds, grass, and brush up to 2" in diameter. The FLEX-ARM allows the operator to travel on the road while the 10' or 15' cutter cuts the ditch slope.

    ALWAYS OPERATE WITH THE WING HYDRAULIC CYLINDER CONTROL VALVES IN A FLOAT POSITION. • For maximum performance and service life, Always use Genuine Schulte replacement parts. Operating Noise Level/Sound Pressure The sound levels at the operator's ear from the attached machine (rotary cutter) are at least 10 dB(A) below the levels from typical Agricultural tractors used to power and transport this machine.

    IMPORTANT: The castor wheel locking bolts must never be used when the FLEX-ARM is attached to a rotary cutter.     15 or 10 foot rotary cutter. As shipped, the FLX-1510 is configured for use with a 15 foot cutter. If the FLX-1510 is to be attached to a 10 foot cutter the "Castor Link" must be repositioned. When the cutter is shipped the "Castor Link" is in the position shown below.

  • Page 62 OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS SCHULTE Flex-Arms are manufactured with quality material by skilled workers. These arms are designed to allow the operator to travel on the road while the 10’ or 15’ rotary cutter cuts the ditch slope. The rotary cutter is equipped with protective deflectors and/or chain guards to prevent objects being thrown from the mower by the blades, however, no shielding is 100% effective.

    The minimum tractor HP for the FLX-1510 is 85 HP. The minimum tractor HP for the FLX-1510 configured for use with a 10’ rotary cutter is 75 HP. Operating the mower with a tractor that does not have enough power may produce a less desirable cut.

    Mower blades driving the Tractor transmission even though the Tractor clutch has been disengaged.     (SG-15) FLX-1510 Hydraulic Circuit Requirements, 15’ Requirements Hoses and breakaways are provided in order to connect to a 15’ rotary cutter with individual single acting wing circuits. A total of 4 hydraulic circuits are required. Two of the circuits require float positions on the control valves in order to operate the single acting wing circuits on the rotary cutter.

    Replace bent or broken blades with new blades. NEVER ATTEMPT TO STRAIGHTEN, WELD, OR WELD HARDFACING ON BLADES SINCE THIS WILL LIKELY CRACK OR OTHERWISE DAMAGE THE BLADE WITH SUBSEQUENT FAILURE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY FROM THROWN BLADES. Under certain conditions, tractor tires may roll some grasses down resulting in a ragged cut.
