Allow sufficient clearance for the Implement to swing outward while turning. Implements
carried behind the Tractor will swing outside the tire path when making turns. Contacting a
solid object while turning will cause equipment damage and possible injury.
Perform turns with the tractor, FLEX-ARM and
cutter at slow speeds to determine how the tractor
with an attached FLEX-ARM and cutter handles a
turn. When operating the FLEX-ARM and cutter, the
overall working length of the unit is increased. Allow
additional clearance for the FLEX-ARM and cutter
when turning, especially if the wings are lowered
and the FLEX-ARM is extended.
When the FLEX-ARM is in transport position, it will
stick out 70" to the left side of the tractor. This
allows the rotary cutter and FLEXARM to be exactly
centered behind the tractor. Lighting and marking is
provided to indicate the protrusion of the FLEX-
ARM to the left of the roadway. In some cases; for
instance when working on a narrow road or when
the FLEX-ARM is repeatedly extended and
retracted, the amount of stick out to the left of the
tractor
may
not
be
consideration for oncoming traffic. In this case stop
blocks can be installed to limit the amount of stick
out to the left of the tractor to 55". When the stop
block is installed the rotary cutter will trail 19" to the
right of center. Refer to the "ASSEMBLY" section of
this manual for installation instructions. Extra
precaution should be taken to avoid hitting parked
vehicles, sign, road structures, bystanders and
animals due to the overall length and width of the
implements.
Practice steering and maneuvering the tractor, Flex-Arm and mower in an open field or parking lot before
operating the mower. Use extreme care when backing the equipment. The mower will not react to backing in
the same manner as it does when the mower is connected directly to the tractor. Practice backing until you can
safely control the direction and movements of the Flex-Arm and mower. Back up at a slow speeds to ensure
you maintain control and direction of the mower. Use care to make sure the mower is not backed in to a parked
vehicle, sign, road structures, bystanders, or animals. If you do not feel that you can safely operate and back
the equipment combination than obtain further training before operating this Flex-Arm and mower.
