CLI of the
Management Module
The management module:
Provides a central point of contact for chassis management
Monitors physical conditions in the chassis such as power and
temperature
Manages power use in the chassis by:
Preventing newly installed modules from receiving power when
there is not enough power available
Allowing you to prioritize the order in which modules power off (if
there is insufficient power available)
Allowing you to implement fault-tolerant power, which allows the
chassis to reserve some of its power capacity to protect against a
power supply failure
Exchanges information with all modules through the MLAN
Has a CLI that allows you to manage its functions as well as to
connect to the menu-driven CLI of each switching module
To complete various configuration tasks or to display basic information, a
Switch 4007 system offers the following management interfaces:
Command Line Interface (CLI) of the Management Module
Menu-driven CLI of Switching Modules (Administration Console)
Web Management (an alternative to the Administration Console)
For more comprehensive network monitoring and analysis of your
Switch 4007, use external SNMP-based applications, such as Hewlett
Packard's HP Openview and 3Com's Transcend
The Switch 4007 software and management interfaces are built from
®
CoreBuilder
9000 switch technology. In Switch 4007 software
releases 3.0.0 and 3.0.5, the prompts and displays in all interfaces may
indicate this heritage.
You reach the CLI prompt of the management module when you first
power up the system and connect to it with a terminal or PC to establish
the system IP address. Thereafter, you encounter this CLI prompt each
time that you log in to the system via telnet.
