You use the options in this CLI to configure and monitor certain system
functions, such as login table management, IP connectivity, event and
trap logs, software downloads to all modules, system inventory,
temperature management, and power management. From this CLI
prompt, you also connect to the Administration Consoles of switching
modules in the system.
For more information about the management module and its CLI
commands, see the Enterprise Management Engine Quick Start Guide
and the Switch 4007 Implementation Guide. (This Switch 4007
Command Reference Guide only covers the Administration Console
commands for switching modules.)
The menu-driven CLI of switching modules (called the Administration
Console) resides in flash memory as part of the overall software suite on
each module. You use the Administration Console software to configure
module options or display settings, statistics, and counters. Because this
software boots automatically when you power on a system that has
modules installed or when you install a module in a system that is already
powered up, each module is immediately ready for use in your network
as soon as you connect cabling to it. However, you may need or want to:
Connect to the module from the management module CLI prompt to
configure certain parameters on the module before it can operate
optimally in your networking environment.
View important port, bridge, virtual LAN (VLAN), and protocol
statistics while you manage your system.
An embedded Web management interface (as part of a suite of
HTML-based applications) is available for the Switch 4007. You can use it
to perform the same kinds of configuration tasks on switching modules
as you would using the Administration Console. The interface is graphical
and you can access all switching modules by entering the single IP
address for the system. HTML-based Help is also present to explain the
options. See the Switch 4007 Getting Started Guide for additional
information about the Web management interface and associated
applications.
Switch 4007 software and management interfaces are built from
®
CoreBuilder
9000 switch technology. In Switch 4007 software
releases 3.0.0 and 3.0.5, the prompts and displays of all interfaces may
indicate this heritage.
