Configuring the 3RW5 Soft Starter

The requirement for communication via PROFIBUS is the setting of the station address
(Page 65) in the 3RW5 communication module.
Possible procedures for configuration can be found in chapters Configuring
3RW5 soft starters without help from a 3RW5 HMI (Page 61) and
Configuring 3RW5 soft starters with the aid of a 3RW5 HMI (Page 63).
Note
Setting via the local interface and on the 3RW5 HMI
Setting the station address via the local interface and on the 3RW5 HMI is always possible,
even if no PROFIBUS connection is available.

Configuring the 3RW5 Soft Starter in the PROFIBUS DP system

6.2.1.1

Configuring 3RW5 soft starters without help from a 3RW5 HMI

This section describes a possible configuration of the 3RW5 soft starter which you can only
carry out via the configuration software of the controller. You do not need a 3RW5 HMI for
this option.
Requirements
● Connection of the 3RW5 soft starter via PROFIBUS
● Switched on control supply voltage on the 3RW5 soft starter
● The configuration software of the controller supports the command for changing the
station address.

STEP 7 (TIA Portal)
If you use STEP 7 (TIA Portal), you require a 3RW5 HMI. Pay particular attention to
chapter Configuring 3RW5 soft starters with the aid of a 3RW5 HMI (Page 63).
