Power Intake Management

The requirements for supplying camera power via the base Camera Link SDR connector (Power
over Camera Link; PoCL) or via the 6-pin connector (auxiliary power) differ between camera
models.
5.4.3.1

Camera Models with 2k and 4k Pixels

Camera power can be supplied to 2k and 4k cameras via the base Camera Link SDR connector or
via the 6-pin connector. If camera power is supplied via both connectors at the same time, the
camera will switch off the internal circuitry for power supply via the Camera Link SDR connector and
will only draw power via the 6-pin connector.
5.4.3.2

Camera Models with 6k, 8k, and 12k Pixels

For full camera operation of the 6k, 8k, and 12k cameras, camera power can only be supplied via
the 6-pin connector. This is due to the fact that PoCL is specified for a maximum power consumption
of only 4 W which is exceeded by the 6k, 8k, and 12k cameras.
5.4.4

LED Indicator

The LED indicator on the back of the camera signals whether power is present and also provides
some basic error indications for the camera.
