If the operation mode of an auto function is set to "continous", there will be a short
delay between each auto function AOI cycle. This is because the accumulated
pixel data of the auto function AOI has to be processed by the camera's FPGA.
During this delay, the camera will keep acquiring lines. This means that not all
acquired lines may be used for auto function control. However, this should only
affect a few lines. Also, the delay does not increase with larger auto function AOIs.

Positioning of the Auto Function AOI Relative to the Image

AOIs

The offsetsX and widths of auto function AOI and image AOIs can, but need not be identical.
The overlap between auto function AOI and image AOI determines whether and to what extent the
auto function will control the related image property. Only the pixel data from the areas of overlap
will be used by the auto function to control the image property.
Different degrees of overlap are illustrated in
of overlap.
If the auto function AOI is completely included in the image AOIs (see (a) in
data from the auto function AOI will be used to control the image property.
If the image AOIs are completely included in the auto function AOI (see (b) in
pixel data from the image AOIs will be used to control the image property.
If the image AOIs only partially overlap the auto function AOI (see (c) in
data from the area of partial overlap will be used to control the image property.
If the auto function AOI does not overlap the image AOIs (see (d) in
will not or only to a limited degree control the image property. For details, see the sections
below, describing the individual auto functions.
Basler strongly recommends completely including the auto function AOI within the
image AOIs, or, depending on your needs, choosing identical offsetsX and widths
for auto function AOI and image AOIs.
