MAINTENANCE MANUAL
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE.
The oil pressure gauge is mounted in the cluster on the instrument panel. This gauge will indicate the
amount of oil pressure available at the pressurized engine oil passage.
CHART 7703. TROUBLESHOOTING (ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE)
Trouble
Cause
Remedy
Excessive error at zero.
Excessive scale error.
Excessive pointer oscilla-
tion.
Sluggish operation of
pointer or pressure fails
to build up.
Pointer loose on shaft.
Overpressure or seasoning
of bourdon tube.
Improper calibration ad-
justment.
Air in line or rough engine
relief.
Engine relief valve open.
Replace instrument.
Replace instrument.
Disconnect line and fill with
light oil. Check for leaks.
If trouble persists, clean
and adjust relief valve.
Clean and check.
TEMPERATURE.
OIL TEMPERATURE INDICATOR.
The oil temperature indicator is mounted in the instrument cluster on the instrument panel. This
instrument will provide a temperature indication of the engine oil in degrees Fahrenheit. The instrument has a
temperature bulb located in the oil screen assembly, on the engine accessory section.

engine is warmed up.

wiring to instrument.
Repair or replace.
Check engine unit and
wiring.
Dull or discolored marking.
Age.
Replace instrument.
