DISASSEMBLING AND REPLACING THE TOOLS

7.4.2.1
Disassembling the fixed tools for aluminum caps
(see figure 7.4.2.1)
DISASSEMBLING THE TOOLS
- Loosen and remove the four screws (1).
- Move the drum away by using the crank (3).
- Disassemble the wedge (4) by loosening the two relative screws.
- Take out the wedge (4) by tightening the central grub screw (5).
- Loosen the screws (9) and remove the tools with the mount (10). Push towards the middle of the drum and then
remove the pack pulling it parallel with the drum's axis.
- Disassemble the tool pack (10) on a work table. Loosen and remove the screws (11), loosen the screws (12) and
remove the tool pack (13).
- Pull out the pins (14) that hold the tools together.
- Replace the tools.
ASSEMBLING THE TOOLS
- Assemble the tool pack (13) by carrying out the operations described above in reverse order; lightly lubricate.
- Mount the tool pack (13) on the mount (10) and install them on the machine by performing the same procedures as
in the disassembly operations but in reverse order. Take care not to damage the spindles and, before assembly,
thoroughly clean the mating surfaces and lightly lubricate.

Disassembling the fixed tools for plastic caps
(see figure 7.4.2.2)
DISASSEMBLING THE TOOLS
- Loosen and remove the four screws (1).
- Move the drum away by using the crank (3).
- Disassemble the wedge (4) by loosening the two relative screws.
- Take out the wedge (4) by tightening the central grub screw (5).
- Remove the key (6) by loosening the relative screws and remove the probe connected to it.
- Loosen the union (8).
- Free the cables of the probes from that of the union (8). The probe cables will remain attached to the machine.
- Loosen the screws (9) and remove the tools with the mount (10). Push towards the middle of the drum and then
remove the pack pulling it parallel with the drum's axis.
- Disassemble the tool pack (10) on a work table. Loosen and remove the screws (11), loosen the screws (12) and
remove the tool pack (13).
- Disconnect the cables from the heating elements and grounding point.
- Remove the heating elements by loosening the relative screws (pay attention to the setscrew).
- Pull out the pins (14) that hold the tools together.
- Replace the tools and/or heating elements.
ASSEMBLING THE TOOLS
- Arrange the tool pack (13) proceeding as above in reverse order. Do not lubricate the tool pack (13) to avoid
contaminating the product and cause build-ups due to high temperatures.
- Install the heating elements making sure the fasteners fit into the related grooves and connect the electrical cables.
- Mount the tool pack (13) on the mount (10) and install them on the machine by performing the same procedures as
in the disassembly operations but in reverse order. Take care not to damage the spindles and, before assembly,
thoroughly clean the mating surfaces and lightly lubricate.
