START UP

5.1

GENERAL

Solely the manufacturer's technicians responsible for starting up the machine are authorized to carry out these
operations, as indicated in chapter 1, GENERAL INFORMATION.
Severe damage to the machine and/or serious injury to persons may occur if carried out by other persons.
See chapter 6, USE OF THE MACHINE, for detailed information regarding the control keys.
Specialized mechanics and electricians are required for initial machine start up. The customer's machine operator and
maintenance staff must simply watch on when the machine is started up (to better understand the operating principle
of the machine, how to adjust the auxiliary equipment, accessories and safety devices and guards employed) and trial
runs are carried out to check the adjustments made.
5.2

PRELIMINARY CHECKS

CONDITIONS
The machine has been factory tested when delivered therefore it only needs to be inspected for any damage that might
have occurred during shipment and installation.
PROCEDURE
(references for the controls given in chapter 6, USE OF THE MACHINE)
- Using manual operation, make sure nothing is obstructing the machine parts.
- Put in a cap for each spindle through the infeed channel's inspection door.
- Knurl the caps corresponding to the spindles.
- Check the dimensions of the knurled caps with the gauge provided.
To adjust the dimensions, see chapter 7, ADJUSTMENTS.
- Turn on the electric cabinet by using main switch QS1.
- Turn on the compressed air supply and make sure the pressure required for operation is read on the main pressure
gauge. The exact value is given in paragraph 2.3, TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS.
- Make sure the motor runs in the right direction. If it does not, reverse two of the cabinet's supply wires (figure 4.3.3)
disconnecting the conductors from terminals R and S.
