4.2 Fitting and Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Skin irritation due to overheating, local pressure points due to tight
application to the body
► Ensure that the product is applied properly and fits correctly.
► When in doubt, do not continue to use the product if skin irrita­
tion occurs.
The 50P20 and 50P21 braces are pre-configured for the right hand
upon delivery (see fig. 1, see fig. 2). The metal splints must be modi­
fied for use on the left hand (see fig. 3). Two metal splints – a palmar
spoon-shaped splint and a dorsal splint – are located in the outer
pockets of the brace. Shape the splints by hand to customize them for
the user.
1) Open the brace.
2) Remove the palmar splint (A) from the outer pocket of the brace
(see fig. 6, see fig. 4).
3) Mold the splint so it fits the anatomical shape of the patient's
palm.
4) Insert the splint into the pocket with the outer spoon-shaped
curve facing the palm.
5) 50P20: The dorsal splint (B1) can optionally be used on the
ulnar side (B2). Remove the splint from the outer pocket, shape
it by hand, and place it in the dorsal or ulnar pocket (see fig. 4).
6) 50P21: Remove the dorsal splint (B1) from the outer pocket,
shape it by hand, and place it in the pocket.
7) Pull the brace over the wrist, guiding the thumb through the
thumb opening (see fig. 5). Tighten the lacing and fasten the
hook-and-loop closure.
8) Check the fit of the brace.

9) Optional: Trim the hook-and-loop closure with scissors to better
customize the fit of the brace (see fig. 7).
→ The brace fits snugly without pinching.
4.3 Removal
1) Open the hook-and-loop closure of the brace.
2) Take off the brace.
5 Cleaning
NOTICE
Use of improper cleaning agents
Damage to the product due to use of improper cleaning agents
► Only clean the product with the approved cleaning agents.
1) Remove all metal splints.
2) Fasten all hook-and-loop closures.
3) Recommendation: Use a laundry bag or net.
4) Wash the brace in warm water at 40 °C (104 °F) with standard
mild detergent. Do not use fabric softener. Rinse thoroughly.
5) Allow to air dry. Do not expose to direct heat sources (e.g. sun­
light, stove or radiator).
6) Reinsert the metal splints.
6 Disposal
Dispose of the product in accordance with national regulations.
