• The control arm attached to the blast gate is parallel to the blast gate orienta-
tion. Therefore, if the control arm is perpendicular to the ductwork, the air
flow is blocked. If the control arm is parallel with the flow of air (i.e., parallel
to the length of the ductwork in which it is located), then the air flow is unob-
structed. Refer to Figure 2–28 for an example showing an open blast gate at
one of the centrally–located stacks.
