Commissioning

This chapter describes the basic procedure for successfully commissioning your CamDisc HNVR and
provides tips for configuration and design strategies. The online guide for CamControl LITE and CamControl
PRO software provides further information on configuration software and the menus relevant to configuring
your application. For clearness, the following information refers to CamControl LITE software. CamControl
PRO software provides identical features and can be used for commissioning as well without any limitation.

First Steps

1. Install CamDisc HNVR as described in "System Description", section "Mounting and Setting up" and
switch the device on. Refer to "Mounting and Setting up" on page 12.
2. Connect all input and output lines to your CamDisc HNVR unit now, if possible. All required plugs are
included in the scope of delivery. Refer to "Pin Assignment and Functionality" on page 18.
3. To operate the IP cameras, CamDisc HNVR offers you a dedicated network interface, termed IP
Camera. The factory settings are: IP address = 192.168.32.95; subnet mask = 255.255.255.0.
If necessary, configure the IP cameras to operate on this network before using with the CamDisc HNVR.
4. Install the CamControl LITE software for operation, alarm verification, and configuration from the
installation CD. Please observe the installation information in the online guide of the same name. This
guide is included in the installation CD.
5. Connect the CamDisc HNVR to the PC with the CamControl LITE software using a cable. Use either the
optional Nullmodem cable, the USB cable or the network cable. The last two cables listed are part of the
fixed scope of delivery for your CamDisc HNVR.
6. Start the CamControl LITE software and use option Connect to connect to your CamDisc HNVR unit,
observing the following:
If you use the optional null modem cable: Open CamControl LITE software in offline mode. Go to

menu item Settings, menu item Port A, menu item Mode. Activate option Null modem.
If using the USB connector cable, it may be necessary to install a corresponding driver (refer to the
l
sub-directory /Drivers in your CamControl LITE or CamControl PRO software).
In addition, you may need to activate the Transmitter index with USB node option in the software (see
Receiver options/Extras/USB).
If you use a network cable: Open CamControl LITE software in offline mode. Go to menu item
l
Settings, menu item Port A, menu item Mode. Activate option TCP/IP. In addition, include your
CamDisc HNVR unit as new transmitter in the transmitter list, including the CamDisc HNVR TCP/IP
address. The factory settings are: IP address =192.168.31.95; subnet mask =255.255.255.0;
Activate the transmitter list with option Dial.
7. Refer to the CamControl LITE software online guide for all further steps concerning commissioning and
configuration.
