Hard disk commissioning
To avoid transport damage, CamDisc HNVR and removable hard disks are delivered separately.
Hard disk size and model/serial number can be displayed in menu "Site archive" under "HDD" of CamControl
LITE or CamControl PRO software.
You can find the HeiTel serial number on the label on top of the HDD case.
Note: Using a hard disk in different CamDisc HNVR devices or in devices with a different firmware
version, can cause a data loss. So please make sure that you have important data backed up
before.
Which data will be stored on the removable hard disk?
In addition to video data, additional information and settings are stored on the removable hard disk. This is to
enable convenient evaluation with other CamDisc HNVR units, or in offline mode with evaluation PCs.
Moreover, to enable trouble-free operation of several removable hard disks with the same CamDisc HNVR
unit, and to ensure protection from access by unauthorised persons. This information includes:
Copy of camera and camera group names

Serial number of the recording device

All criteria relevant to the video recording, refer to "Site Archive" under"Factory settings" on page 57 for a
l
complete list of criteria.
CamControl software allows storage of the most important settings in the CamDisc HNVR flash memory.
Saved settings can be written conveniently to additional or new hard disks later.
Factory settings / configuration profile
When commissioning a new removable hard disk in combination with a new CamDisc HNVR unit, the factory
settings stored in the CamDisc HNVR unit will be used for automatic configuration of the removable hard
disk. After configuration with CamControl LITE or CamControl PRO software you can save your personal
device configuration in the form of a profile in a CamDisc HNVR flash memory and use this profile again, e.g.
when changing hard disks, or for fast programming of other removable hard disks.
Reset the device as described in chapter "Device reset" if you want to reset the device to factory settings,
refer to "Device Reset" on page 28.
Save settings to PC / Load setting from PC
In addition to backing up the configuration settings in CamDisc HNVR's flash memory, you can also back
them up to the receiver PC using the CamControl software and then re-load them to your CamDisc HNVR if
necessary. You will find the options for saving and loading device settings under Recorder settings/Upload /
Download.
Offline evaluation
To evaluate CamDisc HNVR recordings offline, i.e. independent from a CamDisc HNVR unit, the evaluation
PC requires preparation for receiving the removable hard disk. Either use the external PC Kit CamDisc HNVR
USB for direct connection by USB interface to the evaluation PC (desktop, notebook), or installation of a PC
Kit CamDisc on the evaluation PC (desktop). The advantages of option USB over option IDE are:

(depending on the operating system)
evaluation and removable hard disk change without PC/Laptop restart
