TROUBLE
Rough engine. (cont)

Low oil pressure.

High oil temperature.

CAUSE
Uneven compression.
Insufficient oil.
Air lock or dirt in relief valve.
Leak in suction line or
pressure line.
Dirty oil strainers.
Defective pressure gauge.
Stoppage in oil pump intake
passage.
High oil temperature.
Leaking oil seal in turbo,
180T only.
Defective check valve in
turbocharger oil supply line,
180T only.
Insufficient air cooling.
Insufficient oil supply.
Low grade of oil.
Clogged oil lines or strainers.
Excessive blow-by.

REMEDY
Check compression.
Fill sump with recommended oil.
Remove and clean oil pressure
relief valve.
Check gasket between accessory
housing and crankcase.
Remove and clean oil strainers.
Replace gauge.
Check line for obstruction.
Clean suction strainer.
See "High Oil Temperature" in
"Trouble" column.
Check for oil in turbo exhaust
outlet. Replace turbocharger.
Disassemble and clean valve
or replace.
Check air inlet and outlet of oil
cooler for deformation or
obstruction.
Fill oil sump to proper level
with specified oil.
Replace with oil conforming
to specifications.
Remove and clean oil strainers.
Usually caused by worn or stuck
rings.
