TROUBLE
Failure of engine to
develop full power.

Rough engine.

PIPER AIRCRAFT
PA - 4 4 - 1 8 0 / 1 8 0 T
AIRPLANE MAINTENANCE MANUAL
CAUSE
Leak in the induction system.
Throttle lever out of adjustment
Sniffle valve stuck open, 180T
only.
Turbocharger malfunctioning,
180T only.
Improper fuel flow.
Restriction in air induction.
Improper fuel.
Faulty ignition.
Exhaust system gas leakage,
180T only.
Improperly adjusted pressure
relief valve, 180T.
Possible leak in lines to sniffle
valve.
Cracked engine mount.
Defective mounting bushings.

REMEDY
Tighten all connections and
replace defective parts.
Adjust throttle lever.
Clean or replace valve.
Check for unusual noise in turbo.
If malfunction is suspected check
for damaged rotor assembly, for
possible rubbing in housing,
damaged rotor, coked bearings.
Repair or replace turbocharger.
Check strainer, gauge and
flow at the fuel inlet.
Examine air intakes and remove
restrictions.
Drain and refill tank with
recommended fuel.
Tighten all connections. Check
system with tester. Check
ignition timing.
Inspect exhaust system for gas
leakage, gaskets at turbine inlet
flanges, etc., and correct as
applicable.
Adjust valve.
Inspect and repair. Refer to
sniffle valve information in this
chapter.
Replace or repair mount.
Install new mounting bushings.
