Turbocharger seal leakage at
compressor end.
Pressure relief valve fails to
open.

Excessive noise or vibration.

Engine will not deliver rated
power.

Cause
Air cleaner element clogged.
Restriction or faulty check valve
in turbocharger oil drain line.
Restriction in duct between air
cleaner and turbocharger.
Malfunction in oil scavenge
pump or drain pump.
Restriction in engine crankcase
breather.
Worn or damaged compressor
wheel.
Engine malfunction (Piston
blowby or high internal
crankcase pressure.)
Relief valve aneroid bellows
failed.
Relief valve out of calibration.
Improper bearing lubrication.
Leak in engine intake or exhaust
system.
Dirty impeller blades.
Clogged induction system.

Remedy
Service air cleaner.
Remove restriction or replace
faulty check valve.
Remove restriction.
Refer to engine manufacturer's
maintenance manual.
Remove restriction.
Clean and repair induction
system. Overhaul turbocharger.
Refer to engine manufacturer's
maintenance manual.
Overhaul or replace relief valve.
Recalibrate or replace relief
valve.
Supply required oil pressure,
clean or replace oil line, clean
oil screen. If trouble persists,
overhaul turbocharger.
Tighten loose connections or
replace manifold exhaust
gaskets as necessary.
Disassemble and clean turbo-
charger.
Clean all ducting and filter.
