Amber warning wrench
In the event of a failure mode, the driver receives malfunction warning lamps on the instrument cluster.
•
The instrument cluster uses the following to warn the driver of a fault:
– Message Center text (Engine Failsafe Mode).
– An amber warning wrench.
•
This lamp illuminates when a defect has been detected in the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. The
engine has defaulted to a limp-home operation. There are various levels of limp home modes with Electronic
Throttle. Limp home modes range from No Effect On Driveability to Default Throttle to Forced Engine
Shutdown. When the ETC light is illuminated engine speed is limited by pedal position for all modes except
Default Throttle and Forced Engine Shutdown. Vehicle requires service when the wrench light is illuminated.
